San Marino has invited Eddie Martinez to represent its nation, continuing the country's tradition of inviting foreign artists to exhibit at the Biennale in a nod to San Marino's legacy of welcoming outsiders. Martinez's biography and the conceptual underpinnings of his work both connect to this embrace of foreigners. Curated by Alison M. Gingeras, the exhibition will immerse visitors in Martinez's creative process, showing how drawing is the foundation of his painting and sculpture practices.
