Art Basel Miami Beach 2025: Kabinett with Eddie Martinez

For the Kabinett sector of Art Basel Miami Beach 2025, Timothy Taylor is pleased to present a focused solo presentation of new work by Eddie Martinez. The presentation will include paintings and bronze sculptures, offering insight into the artist’s evolving visual language.

Martinez is known for his bold, expressive style that blends figuration and abstraction. Drawing from everyday sketches and spontaneous mark-making, his work brings immediacy and energy to the canvas. The paintings transform casual drawings into large, gestural compositions, continuing the approach seen in his work at the 60th Venice Biennale.

Each painting features Martinez’s signature brushwork, layered surfaces, and graphic contours. Using oil, enamel, spray paint, and collage, the artist creates rich, textured images that feel both urgent and deliberate. Figures and shapes emerge against monochrome grounds, emphasising the directness of his gesture and the strength of his line.

The presentation will also include two new bronze sculptures that extend this language into three dimensions. These tabletop works, assembled from found materials and cast in bronze, preserve the raw energy of their original forms while introducing a sense of weight and permanence.

By pairing painting and sculpture, the presentation highlights Martinez’s instinctive approach and ongoing exploration of movement, material, and form—presenting a practise grounded in drawing that continually pushes the boundaries of abstraction and surface.
