Hayal Pozanti: Cosmic Trees in Encounters, Art Basel Hong Kong 2025

Convention & Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong
28 – 30 March 2026

In Cosmic Trees, Hayal Pozanti expands her biomorphic visual language into a fully immersive sculptural environment. Towering polychromatic metallic trees, crowned with mirrored orbs, emerge from an undulating, psychedelic floor designed by the artist. This dynamic surface awash in deep, jewel-toned hues, evokes the textures and movement of her paintings, enveloping viewers in a shifting, otherworldly landscape. Pozanti draws inspiration from shamanistic traditions that revere trees as bridges between the Earth and the sky. Here, she reimagines these sacred forms as futuristic totems, oscillating between organic and mechanical, past and speculative future. The mirrored orbs catch and distort reflections, activating the space through light and movement. At the core of Pozanti’s practice is a set of thirty-one glyphs—an abstract lexicon developed over a decade. These fluid, amoeba-like shapes, informed by both digital aesthetics and natural formations, create a symbolic landscape filled with evolving biological life. In Cosmic Trees, they take sculptural form through printed aluminum dibond, mirror-polished stainless steel, and powder-coated steel—materials associated with industrial production yet rendered in forms that embrace organic fluidity. For Pozanti, art is both an act of world-making, and a way of grounding oneself in the present. Cosmic Trees extends this philosophy, offering a space where symbols, traditions, and imagined futures converge in a hypnotic interplay of color, form, and reflection.
