Kiki Smith in Frida: The Making of an Icon

Tate Modern, London, UK
25 June 2026 – 3 January 2027

On view at Tate Modern, Kiki Smith’s work is included in Frida: The Making of an Icon, a major exhibition exploring Frida Kahlo’s enduring artistic and cultural legacy. Bringing together over 30 of Kahlo’s most iconic works alongside treasured garments, jewellery, photographs, memorabilia and more than 200 works by her contemporaries and later generations of artists she inspired, the exhibition celebrates the many facets of Kahlo’s identity and her lasting impact on artists who continue to reimagine and reclaim her remarkable story.

Smith’s sculptures reflect her longstanding engagement with the body as a site of memory, resilience and vulnerability, themes that resonate with Kahlo’s own exploration of identity and self-representation.
