West Bund Art & Design 2025
Timothy Taylor is pleased to participate in West Bund Art & Design with an extensive group presentation. The gallery will present new works made for the fair by Eddie Martinez, Paul Anthony Smith, and Sahara Longe, alongside works by Daniel Crews-Chubb, Armen Eloyan, Alex Katz, Leon Kossoff, Sean Landers, Richard Patterson, Hilary Pecis, Michel Pérez Pollo, Kiki Smith, and Antoni Tàpies.
Michel Pérez Pollo transforms meticulously staged assemblages of biomorphic forms into dynamic paintings. In Lon (2024), photographed arrangements of improvised models are transferred to canvas and brought to life through expressive brushwork, producing works that balance chance, intuition, and sculptural presence.
Paul Anthony Smith’s Dreams Deferred series continues his exploration of memory, migration, and Black identity. Painting directly over photographs, Smith layers scenes of everyday life with veils of colour and abstraction, creating works that shift between personal narrative and collective history.
Historical works on view include Alex Katz’s Ada in Red T-Shirt (1980), a striking portrait of the artist’s lifelong muse distilled into bold planes of colour, and Antoni Tàpies’s Boca Negra (1996), which exemplifies his engagement with materiality, texture, and the spiritual resonance of abstract forms—underscoring the gallery’s commitment to dialogue between postwar and contemporary practises.
